T 4.04 داء ذبول القهوة

ظهر داء ذبول القهوة (CWD) لأول مرة في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى عام 1927، حيث بدأ في مهاجمة نبات قهوة إكسيلسيور (excelsior) الأقل شيوعًا. وقد ظهرت أدلة في خمسينات القرن الماضي على أن قهوة الأرابيكا قد تكون عرضة للإصابة به. وأدرك العاملون في مجال القهوة أهمية المرض الجديد خلال الصراعات التي قامت في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية عام 1997-1998. فقد تم تهريب حبوب القهوة الناضجة وغير الناضجة من جمهورية الكونغو إلى أوغندا خلال الحرب (ج. فلود، 2009). مما أدى إلى ظهور مرض جديد في محصول القهوة الأوغندي وتسبب في خرابه، إلى جانب ورود تقارير عن خسائر تصل إلى 70٪ في محاصيل قهوة الروبوستا. وما زالت سلالات المرض تؤثر على قهوة الأرابيكا في إثيوبيا وتنزانيا حتى اليوم. وتشير الاستطلاعات إلى أنه موجود الآن في كل مناطق زراعة القهوة في إثيوبيا (أ. جيرما وآخرون، 2009 ). ومع وصول الداء إلى تنزانيا، أصبح يشكل التهديد الأكبر على إنتاج القهوة في أفريقيا (ج. م. وولر، م. بيجر، ر. ج. هيلوكس، 2007).

 

كيفية حدوث العدوى

The way this disease spreads is not well known. However, just like leaf rust and coffee berry disease, it is the result of invasion by a fungal pathogen. The CWD pathogen is named Fusarium. Infected trees are killed outright within a period of 3 to 15 months, and younger plants can perish within weeks. The disease attacks the xylem, the vascular system that conducts fluid around the plant. Plants are unable to receive adequate water. Consequently, branches wilt and leaves become fragile and هشًا and then fall off. Finally, the plant develops an irreversible dieback, which moves downward through the plant into the trunk and roots.
