Coyotes
« Back to Glossary Index

In Guatemala, the term coyote is often used disparagingly to refer to intermediaries, who collect cherry directly from the farm and sell it to commercial wet mills for a profit. Coyotes are considered to be exploitative middlemen, buying cherry for the lowest possible prices and profiting off the higher prices paid at wet mills, and in many cases this may be true.
