BH is coming to Prufrock in London on the 10th of June to host an event featuring our favourite scientist, Professor Steven Abbott. Proceeds from this event will be donated to World Coffee Research. In this lecture, Professor Abbott intends to explore (in his own words):
… “how the best baristas are making use of good science. With live demos, apps for your smartphones and a live challenge session, you will find that the science of coffee is anything but dull!”
Professor Abbott’s free online resources of apps and ebooks are a go-to for anyone serious about the science of extraction. Mind you this material isn’t easy — that’s why for us at BH, the chance to meet Professor Abbot in person and to participate in a Q&A as part of the lecture makes this an unmissable occasion.
Professor Abbott’s extraordinary career has taken him all around the world, with gigs that have included working with banana growers in the Philippines, printing companies in Colombia and a coffee bag valve company in the USA. Abbott is a world expert on drying science and diffusion, so roasters and enthusiasts will find a Dumbledorean pensieve of knowledge on heat transfer and extraction. In our own research at BH Learn, we have found Professor Abbott’s own blog, to be the most definitive source of information on espresso crema and milk foams.
