The most intense solar radiation reaches a plant growing in the tropics when the sun is directly overhead. As the Earth tilts, the solar intensity is reduced because the radiation is spread over a larger area. In this video, Matt shows how a 30-degree tilt of the Earth results in around half the direct radiant heat reaching a coffee plant.
